Pingshui Gunpowder Green Tea

Description
Our special grade gunpowder green tea comes from the Pingshui region of the northern Zheijiang province. After the tender young tea leaves has been withered and steamed, it is rolled into small pellets. Due to its compact rolling, this Pingshui Gunpowder stays fresh longer and less is required to make a great cup of tea. This tea produces a light greenish-yellow liquid and has a slightly smoky flavor with a smooth stimulating taste. The gunpowder is also known to be a very good drink in the morning. Good Taste

This was my first time for this tea. Didn’t know what to expect. Didn’t want that green grass flavor. This has a unique flavor, some call it Smokey? Not sure about that but is good and strong but not over powering

These little buds brew up so well and provide a classic taste similar to Wuyi Rock, just not as strong. Smokey but light. Doesn't take a lot to brew a great cup.

This is a good basic green tea with a fairly strong flavor. I think it is especially good with spearmint, also sold in bulk by Enjoying Tea.

I really enjoy this delicate tea, it requires a short brewing time or it can get bitter. (any more than a couple min). But the flavor is light and somewhat reminds me of nori. plus there is nothing more fun than telling someone you're drinking gunpowder.

This was a high quality gunpowder. The pellets were nice and small indicating that they used the smaller, younger leaves.

Item arrived in a timely manner, very securely packaged. Boiling water poured over a tea-spoon of these rolled tea leaves, produced a burst of distinct flavor, after approximately 3 minutes. A great way to start the day !!

A light, pleasant tea, but not he least bit smoky as a gunpowder tea should be.

I've been drinking this tea excl;usively for only about 2 years and find it very satisfying. I have a cup in the morning and use the same tea for the afternoon. Holds its flavor very well.

Good Gunpowder
September 15, 2012
I ordered this tea when my usual supplier of Organic Gunpowder was sold out. I drink it every morning and find this tea does not have the bite and campfire taste of many gunpowders. It is smooth and very enjoyable. Just wish it was organic.

A very deep, earthy taste. Very good! I've had success steeping the leaves three times.

Called 'gunpowder' for a reason.

I have had many green teas and this was nothing like any of them. You definitely need to use less of this than you normally would for other green teas. If you use the normal amount that you normally would you will end up with a very smoky tasting brew. My wife said that it tasted like a cigarette butt had been steeped in the tea, which wasn't far from the truth. However, if brewed correctly you end up with a very good, albeit different tasting, cup of tea. This tea is definitely for green tea lovers only, or those who like to try different things.

A clean favorite

This tea has a good, clean green tea taste. It is concentrated (as another reviewer mentioned), making it a good value indeed.
It's not as "light" tasting as a lot of other green teas. It has more depth while maintaining that clean, green taste that is typical of green teas.
One of my current favorites. In my top three.
I recommend you stick your nose in the tin and inhale deeply before dishing any of the tea out to brew. The smell of this tea has to be appreciated.

a very smokey flavor. took some practice to brew correctly, have to be careful not to use too much or the tea will be too strong. good value.
