Taiwan Oolong Tea, (Formosa Alishan Oolong)

I've made a few cups with this tea, and so far, it's been a slightly better than 50/50 success. It doesn't wow me, but it does have a unique flavor. Some days, I'm loving it, other days, it doesn't float my boat. But that's the nature of Oolongs. They are not to everyone's taste. Me, I love them, and I think I need to have more cups to find the hidden qualities of this tea.

My favorite milk oolong is no longer available, and I've been searching for a replacement. It's not this one.

I had great expectations for this tea, because the pouch aroma is incredible — sweet and creamy, just the way I'd expect a milk oolong to be. The characteristic milk oolong flavor is there on the first steeping (195°F, 1:00 min.) although it's nowhere near as intense as the dry leaf aroma promises. The flavor is even less pronounced on the second steeping (195°F@1:30).

This isn't bad tea; it just doesn't have the intensity of flavor I like, and what flavor it has fades completely by the third steeping (195°F@3:00). After that, it's just unremarkable green tea.

Perhaps I've been spoiled by having been fortunate to have had access to a source of exceptionally fine milk oolong. Maybe the pouch I received was an anomalously weak batch...I dunno. I just know that my search for a luscious milk oolong continues. This isn't it.

Still, if you've never tried a milk oolong, this one will give you an idea what it's like, especially in the pouch aroma. But to get the real flavor and aroma of the milk oolong experience, use more than the normal amount of dry leaf, and don't expect to get more than two or three steepings.

I am a fan of Milk Oolongs and have tried lots of them from many different sources. This is a very nice one- not as buttery as others, more of an actual 'milky' taste, though it's mild.There's also a slight sweetness and a little nutty taste. There is no bitterness or astringency. I brew at 185 for 3 min and can get a nice 2nd brew. I will order this again.

I like Oolong tea, and have tried different types from different distributors and this, by far, is one of the best I have tasted. Fresh, flavorful, marvelous aroma.

Don't have the finest pallette, but I couldn't taste anything sweet or fruity in this oolong which I was hoping for. However it is aromatic, pleasant, and affordable which is what I want in a tea. I do wish I could select samples of various teas so I could try out various teas beforehand to buy to my liking.

very interesting taste, smooth flavor with almost an apricot after taste. I can taste is almost like a smoothe light fruity flavor with a slight grass flavor thats not over powering at all and a slight earthyness. A very good tea to relax and read a book with or to just relax and try to figure out the other possible flavores in this lol. Would recommend this and the price is worth it

Very yummy and interesting taste! It has a flavor I can't quite put my finger on, above and beyond any normal tea flavor. It's one that will be loved by those who enjoy some personality in their tea. I would classify this as a flavored tea.
