Superior West Lake Dragon Well, (West Lake Lung Ching)

Description
This green tea comes from the West Lake Region of the city of Hangzhou. These flat leaves are harvested in early spring when the leaves are full of aroma and have a silvery shine. These leaves produce a soothing and refreshing jade colored liquid full of freshness. Semi-sweet in taste and orchid-like in smell, Lung Ching is one of the most famous green tea in China. Good Green Tea but No Dragon
April 29, 2018
This tea does not have the flavor or aroma of a proper Dragon Well but it is a superior green tea having a delicate flavor without grassy overtones or bitterness. If you want a smooth tea with minimal astringency, you may find it worth the price. It will make at least three steeps. It appears that you have to pay at least $10 per oz. for a good Dragon Well but I have found better examples of the type in this price range.

This is the best Chinese Green teas around. Very elegant flavor and a classic roasted taste combine with pleasant aroma and no astringency to produce a superb tea. You can almost smell the leaves being hand- swirlled in the roasting pan. A great morning tea!

Good, but a little disappointing at the price.

Enjoyable Sunday tea. Certainly grade as specified, but not as flavorful as some similar grades I have had in the past. I got it in February, so it just might have been a little old and stale. Will try again after the new crop comes in.

Consistently Enjoyable and Not Fussy

I have been drinking Enjoying Tea's Superior West Lake Dragon Well for about two years. As with all green teas, some experimentation with water temperature, brew time, and amount of tea is needed. But it is much more forgiving than vegetal green teas from Japan with respect to water temperature and brewing time. I usually bring water to a boil, let it cool for about two minutes, then steep 3 tbs of this tea in a tall glass with about one cup of water for 2-3 minutes. It has natural sweetness and some floral tones, but i would not describe it as flowery. Enjoying Tea's much less expensive Dragon Well is also good, but this one is worth the money. I drink a variety of green teas, but order this one every time.

I love this tea, as long as you use the right temperature water, the right amount of tea, and brew it the desired length of time to personal taste, this tea offers a unique sweetness that lingers on the palette throughout the day. Over brewing is easily detected with bitterness. Experiment to find the perfect brew as is typical with tea and coffee etc.

Must Have

I haven't tried every tea variety on the planet but thus far this is my favorite. When you get the perfect brew happening this tea leaves(no pun intended) a sweetness like a perfume that lingers upon your pallet all day long. After you achieve this effect, you seek out that balance with every batch and brew.

If you like green tea, but don't like the more vegetal ones like sencha or gyokuro this is for you. I steeped this tea at 170 degrees for about four minutes and the pale green tea that resulted was downright excellent. Add a dash of sugar (if you aren't a purist) and it gets even better. This seems like the perfect tea to blend with flowers, or dried fruit to create your own flavors since the tea isn't overwhelming. This is now on my 'favorite teas' list.
