Good way to start my day

This has been a good tea at the start of my morning. Good flavor. Nothing harsh. It works well with a variety of breakfast foods.

I have no luck with Senchas and Gyokuras
December 9, 2019
I can't figure it out, but I have the worst luck with both Japanese Senchas and Gyokuras. I heat the water to the right temperature, I use distilled water so there's no minerals or chemicals, and it still comes out like murky swamp water for me. Yet, I can go to a coffee shop, buy a bagged Sencha, they put it in boiling water, and it will taste fine. It's probably a really great tea, just not in my hands. Even though I have no luck with it, I'd still recommend it to those who like Japanese teas. I can't fault something, because it's probably my fault it doesn't taste right.

Not a bad green tea, especially at this price point. I would purchase this again. A good everyday tea.

Delicious tea, just watch the measurement...
July 11, 2014
A delicious Sencha. I brewed it a little too strong with the first pot due to being used to the measurement of another tea I drink with greater regularity (Dragonwell). This is a lovely cup though. Fresh taste, and a heavenly aroma.

This is some legit sencha

This green tea is like, extra green. Three minutes is all you need. If you don't have a thermometer yet, it's time to get one. I advise steeping in water that is 180 degrees fahrenheit.

Poor man's gyokuro?
August 21, 2012
I love gyokuro, but I can't always afford it. Enter 'Akita Supreme Sencha'. This tea is close to what you'd expect a gyokuro to taste like, and it costs about half as much as most gyokuro. I typically drink this tea in the morning, but sometimes drink it at night if I steep it for a shorter amount of time.

For those who have no idea what I am talking about, this tea tastes like a stronger (greener) green tea. If you love sencha and would enjoy something stronger, this tea is for you.

If you like sencha...
November 3, 2011
If you like sencha you will probably like this tea. I personally love sencha, and I like strong tasting tea. With that said I like this more than regular sencha because it tastes about the same, but fuller. If you look at these leaves and those from regular sencha you'll notice that these are greener (meaning more chlorophyl I am guessing) and it makes a difference in taste. I love to drink this tea any time of the day.

Our New Daily Drink of Choice

We chose this Akita Sencha after trying quite a few different green teas.
It takes a little effort to get the correct steeping temperature and time, as it can be easy to braise this tea. But once you get the right combo, it is a silky smooth and refreshing green tea that we will enjoy hot and cold.
